I took a trip, I felt lost creatively, I needed inspiration. I have a camera. I’m on a small wooden boat but there are lots of people on it, they are wearing capes with hoods, all white, folded like shapes in origami paper.

We are in a small U-shaped port, the buildings are covered in flowers. Then we start moving, the body of water is vast and it’s emerald green and warm. I raise the camera and take pictures, I tell them I missed the spot I desperately needed, I plead to go back, they tell me I shouldn’t be taking pictures and throw my camera into the water, I dive in after it. I see myself from above, swimming towards a sheer cliff with houses carved into the rock, they are all painted yellow, green and orange. They are what I needed a picture of, I know I need to get up the cliff.

Then I’m in a piazza, it’s enclosed, dark. It’s gilded in gold and there’s red everywhere. An archangel stands beside me, candles in candelabras are lit surrounding us, people are walking and chatting but they are just shapes. We’re standing under a golden church organ with stone gargoyles around it. The archangel shows me pictures that have all been taken at different times, the top one is a little girl in a purple bathing suit, taken underwater, he shows me others, underwater too. It’s me, but I’ve never been to these places, so it isn’t me too. His gilded armour clinks as he moves, he asks me, “Do you see it?”

I tell him I don’t understand. He shakes his head and sighs, then he looks up to the organ, I follow his gaze and see hairline fractures appearing in the stone, I see it cracking and falling onto me, then I die.
